Ingredients
400 grams khoya/mawa (about 2½ cups, grated)
¾ cup sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
3–4 drops vanilla essence
3–4 cashews, chopped (for garnish)
How to make Chocolate Barfi
1. Take 400 grams of khoya/mawa in a kadhai. Grate the khoya before cooking and ensure it is at room temperature.
2. Once the khoya is warm, add ¾ cup sugar stir continuously until fully dissolved and combined.
3. Keep the flame on low and stir constantly until the sugar completely dissolves and blends smoothly with the khoya.
4. Stir and cook the khoya on low to medium heat, allowing it to thicken.
5. When the khoya mixture thickens and begins to separate from the pan, add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 3-4 drops of vanilla essence and mix well.
6. Once the mixture is thoroughly combined and thickened, turn off the flame.
7. Pour the mixture into a greased pan lined with baking paper.
8. Spread the barfi mixture evenly and garnish with chopped cashews. Place the pan in the refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes to allow the barfi to set.
9. After the barfi has set, remove it from the refrigerator. Cut it into small pieces and enjoy your delicious chocolate barfi.
Suggestion
1. You can use chilled yogurt instead of adding ice cubes.
2. Adding almonds and saffron is optional.
3. You can also add grated pistachio and cashew as per your taste.
