Tomato chutney is commonly prepared in every Indian family. Every family has its own recipe for tomato chutney. Here I am sharing a recipe that can be prepared using easily available ingredients in the kitchen.

This quick and easy tomato chutney recipe taste good when served with dosa, mayonnaise sandwich, instant rava uttapam or idli. You can serve this chutney with momos, veg lollipops, tikkies, pakora, potato fries, pizza paratha and many more snacks recipes. You can also serve this tomato chutney with parathas and rice.

Ingredients


3 medium-sized finely chopped Tomato  

5-6 Garlic cloves

½ teaspoon cumin seeds

½ teaspoon red chili powder or as per your test

¼ teaspoon Asafetida (Hing) and Black Pepper Powder each

¼ teaspoon sugar

2 tablespoon Oil

Salt to test

Preparation


1. Chop the tomatoes finely

2. Crushed the 5-6 garlic cloves in mortar and pestle.


How to Make Tomato Chutney


1. Heat the pan with 2 tablespoons of oil and add ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, fry until it crackles.

2. Turn the flame on medium and add crushed garlic and sauté till the raw aroma of garlic goes away. Don’t make the garlic brown.

3. Now add ¼ teaspoon asafetida (Hing) and saute.

4. Add ½ teaspoon red chili powder. You can increase or decrease the quantity of red chili powder.

5. After that add finely chopped tomatoes and sauté for 2 minutes on medium-high flame. Stir continuously.

6. Add ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder and mix it well. Stir chutney till its water is reduces.

7. Lastly, add ¼ teaspoon sugar and salt.

8. Mashed the tomatoes with backside of a spoon, when they cooked.

9. Cook and stir continuously till the oil leaving the sides of the tomato chutney( approximately 5 to 7 minutes)

10. Tomato chutney is ready to serve now. Serve this tomato chutney with any snacks.

Note


1. You can use jaggery instead of sugar in this tomato chutney recipe.

2. You can store tomato chutney in the refrigerator for 2 -3 days in an airtight container.
